Emile - Doors and windows expose air-leaks. Double pained windows clearly keep traffic noise to a minimum. Recording studios will often have two doors separated by a small gap. This helps to insulate airflow. The lower the frequency, the harder it is to bloc, as the wave length seems to pass, uninterrupted, through most materials. Lead is an expensive option, but does stop the low frequency "pass-through" A common problem is a "bass-full" zone being created in the corners of rooms. This can be ruinous to mixes as well as a neighbors' sleep. Anyway, here are a few links I came across from a google of -- sound insulation studio corners I hope something here can help. http://www.auralex.com/acoustic_foam_cornerfills/acoustic_foam_cornerfills.asp http://arts.ucsc.edu/EMS/Music/tech_background/TE-14/teces_14.html http://www.acoustics101.com/types_of_rooms_gateway.htm http://www.kellyindustries.com/speakers/guide_to_sound_proofing.html Good luck!
