I always wear shoes onstage. That this is a good idea was confirmed on my gig last saturday. I was wearing Birkenstocks. The trumpet player knocked my beer off my bass amp, and the glass shattered. I ended up with several glass slivers in my big toe. Not fun. So I think it's back to the steel toes for me. I think I tend to play somewhat rowdier places than most of you, though :-).
