I always return effects through input channels because I like to send one effect to another But I never have fewer than 16 channels so it's not an economy issue. It has always frustrated me that smaller mixers automatically have fewer Aux sends. I'd love to have a 1202-size mixer with 4 Auxes and would happily give up EQ to have them. BTW - A friend of mine recently bought one of the little Yamaha mixers because its mic channels have inserts.
