SUNDAY,
APRIL 10th ,will be the inaugural performance
of a monthly concert
called
the
SECOND SUNDAYS LIVE LOOPING SERIES at the ATTIC in downtown Santa
Cruz
The
kick off concert will feature guitarist extraordinaire, ANDRE LaFOSSE from Los
Angeles, and Santa Cruz guitar wiz BILL WALKER, as well as special guest Rick
Walker who will act as MC.
Live looping is a music performance style that
incorporates the use of digital loop recorders, that allow the performer the freedom to build
multiple layers of sound in real time without the need for pre-recorded backing tracks. A growing number of international
musicians playing a wide assortment of instruments, have embraced this performance style, and
festivals devoted to this practice
have sprouted up all over the globe
Andre La fosse, a self-described “ turntablist guitarist”, creates complex, multi-layered guitar improvisations that defy easy
description.. Bill Walker creates
ambient impressionistic soundscapes , that he describes as “music for
imaginary movies”. Both of
these accomplished guitarists represent mastery of two poles of the
worlds' most sophisticated live looping
hardware
Joining these
two extraordinary guitarist is Rick Walker. Better known as a master drummer and percussionist,
Rick will do a set of experimental
guitar improvisations, treating the instrument as a found sound object. .
The performance starts at 7:00, and is FREE to all
ages of the public.
