I'm no expert, but have the basics set up. Once you get the concept - setting up the basic transport thing isn't that hard at all. Better said, you'll find many aspects of a complete midi rig to be way more confusing <G>. And I should also say that there are some commands that I have not been successful at programming in - YMMV. I'll run through a quick example. I'm assuming you have the two devices MIDI'd up, and both set to talk on ch 1 as a default Start with the Repeater Manual and note the commands you wanto program and the corresponding CC number - Record (CC86), Play (CC85), Stop(CC87), Undo(CC89), Erase Loop(108). I've got one of the CC pedals set to control the feedback level(CC11) for each button in the bank, too. The FCB1010 has two different ways to control different types of midi instruments. For some instruments you would want to select a patch with each button (called 'Direct Select'), but in the case of a guitar effects box, the buttons turn or turn off a particular effect (Direct Select Off). This is the mode you'd use to control the Repeater. Go through the section in the FCB1010 manual to make this setting. For some applications the FCB1010 will also allow you to program the same button to toggle an effect on or off, and you program the CNT1 and CNT2 buttons to the same CC number, but sending values 0 for CNT1 and 127 for CNT2 . I don't think this applies to the repeater, so you generally don't need to set the CNT2 button to send anything. You'll set CNT1 for each button in the bank. I have the 'zero' bank dedicated to the Repeater. So for example, let's set the 'record' button, (I'm using button #2). You first select the bank(0) with the Up/Down buttons, and then the button in the bank that you wish to assign. You go into edit mode by holding down the 'Down' button. Tap the 'Up' button to confirm. when the switch 2 light is blinking. Tap the CNT1 button (pad number 6) until it blinks or hold it down until it's blinking, then tap 'Up' , to start the sequence of steps for setting CNT1. You want to send CC number 87, and send a value between 64 and 127 (I usually use 127). So tap 0-8-7. then 'Up'. Now Tap 1-2-7. Tap 'Up' For this example, save now by pressing and holding down the 'Down' button.. That's pretty much it. Button 2 should now start the repeater recording . You should next go back and set pedal 1 or pedal 2 to send CC11 and set the range between 0 and 127. My setup assigns: button 1=stop, button 2= play, button 3=record, button 4=undo, button 5 = tap tempo, and button 6=erase loop... kinda like a tape transport with some additional commands... I'll apologize in advance if these instructions aren't helpful - I found that it took a day or two scratching my head to get the concept, and it helps to have the manual open to the appendix with all the CC mappings.
