Re: crappy music of the masses -- Gangsta' rap vs. Outlaw folk

Bringing this back to the subject of the thread (though not to the 
topic of looping), is Gangsta' rap simply an updated version of the 
outlaw myth that is part of many  folk musics (Certainly country, 
bluegrass, Irish), or something more onerous.

I could argue this one either way.

(Perhaps the answer is that when Johnny Cash sang "I shot a man in 
Reno just to watch him die."m, he didn't give the impression that he 
was proud of that action.)
