Thanks, Charles! Hmmm...video. Good idea. Next time I'll bring my camera and shoot shot scenes. The venue, called the Bouqett (http://www.thebouquet.net/index.htm) ...a fairly large venue down town on Main street. It can probably hold 200-300 people. It used to be called the Blues Bouquett, but new owners came and and expanded the genres. The stage is about 3 feet high, about 25 feet wide...for big bands, so we had lots of room. About 10 lights/pars on the ceiling. It's hard to say how many folks where there, but I'd say about 50 or 60 throughout the 2 hours we played....which isn't bad for a Thursday and avant-garde music! There were about 20 people there, before we played at 9pm. Then they gave us all the door cover charge, which indicated 33 more people. The reaction was surprisingly positive. Many of the folks there, including the staff, said that we really challenged their preconceptions of what can be done with live performance and music...we broke the mold at the venue, I guess, because folks are used to dance or pop music there. The door man said that he thought were very professional and top notch. I'm going to try really hard to get a sax or trumpet player to join us next time....but the chances are very low. I've never seen a local horn player play this style of music, but I'll put an ad in the paper nonetheless, and see who comes out of the closet. You are correct...Boise really isn't thought of as an avant-garde town, but we do on occasion see that type of music here. Aside from me, there are maybe 1-3 other artists who do weird stuff, and then we get some out of town bands, maybe one avant-garde band a year. A few years ago, the Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey came to town, which are in the free jazz vein. But is really rare to see bands like this in clubs. We usually play smaller venues or underground, private venues...we have an interesting underground scence here, where people host bands and have big parties. Who knows what the else they do at those parties. We usually have to create our own venues...for instance, I'm starting the 1st Annual Boise Experimental Music Festival, April 28-29. Rick Walker, Ted Killian /Jeff Kaiser, and Lumper-Splitter are headlining, then I have 8 local avant-garde and experimental musicians playing all day Saturday. More here: www.boisemusicians.com/experimental Paul - sure, I'll post the remainder of the set. Set 1, Session 1 (not my favorite) - http://box.net/public/khartung/files/2142446.html Set 1, Session 2 (you already have from my first post) - http://box.net/public/khartung/files/2140414.html Set 2, Session 1 (complete clip) - http://box.net/public/khartung/files/2140007.html Set 2, Session 2 (Alice in Wonderland) - http://box.net/public/khartung/files/2140009.html I probably won't keep these up for more than a day or two...maybe just Set 1, Session 2. So if you want to listen to them in later, you might want to download them.
