Regarding the LP-1, it does  8 independent tracks, with the ability to 
build
overdubs on any of them, So far I haven't done any tests to run out of
memory as I don't tend to loop realy long passages anyway, but i'll make a
point of it and see what happens.

Wasn't that "8 tracks"?  I'll check out the manual. Have a
preliminary PDF here.
