I
gotta say, I love my little PolyTone Mega-Brute. It's not specifically an
acoustic guitar amp, and the only effect it has is reverb (plus some nicely
done, finely-tunable solid-state overdrive from its "Sonic Circuit" preamp
channel). However, it's really small and light (<30 pounds), and
everything seems to sound good through it. I use it with my Godin
nylon-string - with and without the guitar synth module, with my jazz guitar,
and with my rock guitar. It has even held it's own with a rather loud full-tilt
reggae band (they laughed when I walked in with it. when I played, they cried
:-) ). It even can handle a preamped guitar and high-impedance microphone
simultaneously at moderate volumes, so it works if I temporarily enter
"singer-songmangler" mode. The synth tones sound much better than I'd expect
from a guitar amp, and the nylon sound is great. And of course, it's terrific
for jazz.
Best wishes,
Warren Sirota
