Yes. The answer is "no".

The compressor in Live may confuse by having a parameter named "EQ  
Side Chain". This is not side-chaining in the matter of  controlling  
one compressor parameter from a different audio stream, as we do with  
the classical audio ducking technique. It's just a function for  
giving more or less priority to certain frequency bands to be  
affected by the compressor (more similar to a multi band compressor  
if you like).

Live works exactly the same under any OS platform and CPU type.

Depending on what kind of effects you are looking for there might be  
some third-party plug-ins available, but probably not for free with a  
side-chain functionality.
