it's been years since i checked out all the numbers, but when i checked with the union and the the whole ASCAP/SESAC/BMI they all used third part carriers who essentially give you the same deal that they'd give you if you called them cold. most of them asked for 10-15% of the insured value per year for instruments that are of any considerable value. i own a recording studio and also tour. so i have a fair amount of value tied up in gear... i simply can't afford to spend $20,000 per year for insurance.
