Re: fretless guitar looping

In addition to Ned Evett, here in Boise, we have another local and very well accomplished fretless player - Ben Burdick. Great jazz player and looper to boot! Here is his fretless Christmas CD:

Video of him playing Autumn Leaves on fretless: http://www.benburdick.com/videos.html (using a fretless godin, I believe...he has all his guitars de-fretted by a Luthier her in Boise...I have one of them here at my place, a traditional nylon string acoustic).

His new CD I hear is quite good...with some Django like gypsy jazz on it.

Per congrads on going the mile of construction and welcome to fretless land.  Like Camel Ride a lot particularly all the sutblies.  Here is a link for all interested in fretless work to a track I did in a series of fretless pieces recently, participating in the RPMChallenge.comDaryl [Shawn] and I did a Chinapainting recording for this event and I did a solo one as well called Found.  This is from that.  http://www.jimgoodinmusic.com/audio/found/Jim_Goodin_Mexico.mp3 .

The guitar is an Ovation Adamas style (made by someone else) acoustic-electric fretless 6-string that I won off eBay in December of last year.

Best to all on LD...

PS anybody on the list in Santa Fe area.  I'm going out there on vacation next week.  Had hoped to find a place to play and seems a bust thusfar.  At this point sure but if anyone is local and knows of a reasonable open mic or church coffeehouse or something I could drop in at thanks...

Hi,

I'd like to thank everyone on the list that helped me with advice on
reshaping my Telecaster into a  fretless guitar aimed at looping. I
took away the frets, filled the slots with "plastic padding chemical
wood", planed the fingerboard, trimmed the nut (much lower setting
for fretless) and put on 013-056 stainless flat wound jazz strings.
I'm delighted with this new instrument! Recorded the first test run,
guitar lined directly into laptop:

I imagine this guitar will be awesome to play with the Sustaniac
system I have incoming :-)
