ps...the world's first looped cello horror film score?

i just finished...like yesterday, the score to an indie horror movie.
it was the first time i've gone a feature (i've done bits of
documentaries and recently some commercials). i took the approach of
watching the movie and improvising to certain key sections using the
repeaters, while recording the whole time. then i selected the good
parts and used those as a foundation for building the score in
ableton live. i meant to switch back over to logic but i just ended
up doing the entire 90 minute movie in ableton. the whole thing took
7 days and i used 2 microphones, one cello, a spoon and a pair of
chopsticks. i'm actually happy with it (which is an extreme rarity
for me!!). the whole improvising - looping - recording workflow was
very seamless and quite satisfying in its immediacy.

there are a lot of f***ed up things about our present day, but
technologically speaking, it is a great time to be a musician.

who knows how well the movie will do, maybe straight to dvd! it's
really, really scary and the kind of thing i cannot actually watch.
but if you can watch horror films its called "The Devil's Chair" and
is by a UK director named Adam Mason
