Though I hate to draw any attention away from the Loopfest, which I'm overwhelmingly excited about, Jim and I (aka Chinapainting) are going to be doing a few other shows in the Bay Area this week with our acoustics and cassette loops. We're in Oakland on Thursday night, that is TO-night, at a small art space called the 1510 8th St Performance Space, at 8:00. It's close to the West Oakland BART, and also to the Loopfest "Best of Show" over on 5th St., just a few blocks away, which I would like to promote in the same breath. Come see at least one of us! Opening for us is a trio called Sophisticuffs, which is drums, horns, and occasionally some guitars all going for it. It's sliding scale, $6-10. Then on Friday we'll be in San Francisco, at a very picturesque gallery in a Victorian called the Meridian Gallery (meridiangallery.org), downtown on Powell St at Bush (535 Powell to be exact), also at 8:00. This one is $8 and should be a really special night. At the 'Fest, we go on at 9:30 on Saturday night (right after Per, which makes me happy though I don't want to miss any of his set). And on Sunday, we go way out to a winery in Lodi called M2 Wines (m2wines.com) for a long afternoon of loops and such. We're on the schedule from 11-4...I expect things will get either really interesting or really malicious after three hours or so, possibly depending on how much tasting we do ourselves. We shall see. That's at 1376 East Turner Road. After that, Jim heads back to Brooklyn and I head back to Oaxaca, though I'll be doing a few solo shows down in SoCal first, in Oxnard and Redondo Beach the following week (details at swanwelder.com). see you at the ffffffFest! ohboyohboy!
