Yes, there are modes that allow the 'dry' signal to be mixed with the 
'effect' signal and there are also the 'effect only' modes.

I suggest that you try the Whammy pedal. It's quite good on simple 
waveforms like a flute, and particularly good with monophonic 
signals...
