Yea, this is true of any specialized effect . .
 
But I imagine this pedal could have a useful place in someone's solo rig, as a percussion generator  . . . a guitar player, for example, could loop the sound of this and use that as the rhythym basis of a song for overdubbing . . . in which case it would have a more universal function, i.e. avoid the boringness of straight repetition. .

I have been tempted. But it seems like it has such a distinctive sound.  I can just imagine "that sound" permeating music for the next 6 months then disappearing. Much like the Adrenilinn did.
