Breathing dance

   As a percussionist I learned to play working as a dance accompanist . I learned more about music from dancers  than from other musicians. A groove isn't playing in time with a metronome. Grooving is in time with the physical time and place, the resonace of the space ,and every body  present.  In various African an African derived  traditions that includes the land itself,the spirits and the ancestors. The purpose of the music is to connect all and circulate energy through that network of connections.
