OT Re: Looper with MIDI-sync

I'm using Ableton Live as the master. The problem is "warbly" pitch problems. I didn't notice it at first after the firmware update and thought it was fixed. But then I realised I was testing it with my bass through many effects pedals that didn't show up the problem. I tried clean bass and it was very obvious. At this point I don't use it live yet because of this problem. I'm still using the tap tempo on my rc20xl to "sync" untill I can find a solution.

Hi Alicia, what are you using for the master clock? what do you mean by audio stretch problems?

I was just playing with it and when in slave to a Boss dr 670 it syncs perfectly if I have ext.clock and quantize engaged. When I put it into reverse as a slave it does go out of sync until restarted. It seems to loose a beat in the transition. When it's master it stays locked forward or reversed . I rarely use the drum machine and mostly only for practice. I have found that having the 'quantize" button engaged is needed for it to sync to a machine. Hope that helps some....

best,

Jeff

Hey!
I have a 2880 too and I am still having audio stretch problems when using it as a midi slave, even after the firmware update! I am really happy with it apart from that. Do you have any tips Jeff. Is there a particular method of operation as a slave that you follow to combat this problem?

I would also be interested in any suggestions from anyone for loopers that are stable as midi slaves.

Alicia. : )

Check out the Electro Harmonix 2880, it works as either master or slave. The only issue I had with it as slave was fixed with the firmware update.
The optional footswitch is needed also for hands off operation.
I love mine,
Jeff

Subject: Looper with MIDI-sync

Hi, I am completely new to Loopers Delight, looking for my first looper.

Features I need in a looper are:

-syncronization with an external MIDI-clock
-at least 2 minutes of looping time
-relatively small size (pedal/pedalboard)

I've been checking out the Boss RC-20 and the RC-50, but the RC-20 doesn't have MIDI and the RC-50 is way too big for me. All other loopers I've found with MIDI are either gigantic or rack-mountable, and what I need is a pedal with a not-too-overwhelming size. I don't know if it exists, but i suspect that if it does, one of you will know. Hoping for replies!

Martin, Norway
