EDP problem

I have a black Gibson EDP here that doesn't seem to like my old  
analog Obie footcontroler. When I press RECORD it sometimes jumps  
into PARAMETERS, even causing the unit to crash. Bad thing is it  
doesn't happen regularily. Frontpanel button presses of RECORD worked  
fine so far.

Has anyone experienced similar problems? Any hint is appreciated.
