I use PODFarm for the amp stuff. Regarding compressors (if we're still
in that part of the thread), the LA2A model is a very beautiful,
intutive and unobtrusive one (unless you really want it to be). Most
of the time, you need exactly one control (just as with the original).
However from all the remaining compressors (stompbox thingies), there
is none that fulfills Michael's requirements for that extremely snappy
attack, followed by a pull-up during decay.

Michael, have you tried using one of those transient designers? I had
great fun in the past using a hardware one (TC TripleC), but I'm sure
there are tons of free VSTs available. Can't give a recommendation,
alas.
