Well, I think I only jumped into this thread because I'm excited about going to see Ornette next Month ;-) With Kind of Blue, I can read about how it was put together, listen to it, and understand how it was done. Now listening to Ornettes "Tomorrow is the question" (right at the start of 1959, ) How? sounds like the rhythm section is perfectly in tune with the session, as if they were part of the regular band. They weren't, they were drafted in by the record label. ...and some of that album is sparsely melodic to an exaggerated degree.
