When you are saying "adding", are you fine with the loop becoming
longer that way? Because that would bring some strong musical changes.
If you don't want the loop to become longer I guess you rather want to
"substitute" a part of sound with the equal length of silence. Not
being nitty-picky here, just trying to understand what you are
actually after.
