My mistake...I remember seeing the initial Mac OSX version and totally overlooked the Linux one...but I don't recall seeing it in any of the recent Ubuntu distros; probably because I wasn't looking for it specifically. Time to do some more digging!

By the way, sooperlooper under linux is most certainly not a dead-end, it started out as a native linux plugin a long time ago, before becoming a native linux app, and then finally venturing into the world of OSX.
