Fwd: ? RE: ECM guitarists?

Sorry i'm sending another mail to the list but after i send the other one, i proceed to re-listen the disc i just recommended. Wow... real worth the trouble of finding it. Don't know much about the trumpet player either but it's a beautiful tone that needs to be heard! it remminds me a little about my favourite trumpet (and flugel) player, kenny wheeler.

very best, Ariel.

i don't know much about him but a record that strucked me as a wonderful surprise was Jacob Young's Evening Falls (ECM, 2004).

Real beautiful acoustic guitar playing. Nice ensemble too!

Very best from Argentina, Ariel.

Rypdal, Torn, Frisell, Abercrombe and Towner...They're all great.

Raul Bjorkenhiem also had a couple of records on ECM that are better than OK.

An It must be mention that Derek Bailey was on a couple of early ECM recordings, a duo with Dave Holland and a release by the MIC ( Bailey, Evan Parker, Jamie Muir, Hugh Davies and Christine Jeffreys..)

Also, while not on ECM, I am really enjoying Eivind Aarset these days
and would recommend you check him out as well if you haven't already
(definitely more electronic than the ECM stuff, but very tasty).

Totally agree on Steve Tibbetts.  He has seemed to have 'disappeared' though
in terms of new work, does anyone know anything about him.  I still listen
to Big Map Idea which is really old but wonderful, also Yr.

Krispen played Terje Rypdal on his June Free Wav radio show

Ralph Towner I also highly recommend, he's really an acoustic guy not
lo9oping but wonderful improvisor on 12-string steel and nylon 6.
