I'm at work now and can't find the exact links but try googling free mac vst and you'll come up with a bunch of hits. I use Audio Units exclusively myself but there are a bunch of free effects that come in both forms (AU and VST).

I know TAL has some free reverb effects and there's one called Ambience that's nice.

I can get more info later when i'm home if you still need it.
