Since the year 2000, every live looping show that I've done has been
pure improv.
I don't do songs, but I try to improvise towards simple forms sometimes
they
end up sounding like songs.

The one thing I do is I try to change instruments on every single piece
I do so, invariably,
there will be themes that come up........even so, they end up different
everytime.

As a contrast, every single song I play in my wife's Indie rock band,
Done Beginner is completely
written with virtually no improv in it whatsoever. I'll switch up on
fills really occasionally, but
the intention is to perform music that is composed and not
improvisational in nature.

I'm working now, towards performing some live looping material and
conventional instruments
that will be , essentially composed. It's fun to incorporate both
approaches and a little intimidating to me to be quite honest.

It's a really nice balance in my life.
