I know, man...not cheap. :( They come up for sale used, though. Maybe  
check out Huge Racks (an online forum, if you're not familiar with  
it). You could even post an ad there. I saved $50-100 on mine, I think.

There's not much it can't do (at least for my purposes it's

here want to have MIDI control of things I probably would never dream
