PS was just in Boston this weekend accompanying my daughters school which participated in the Heritage Juried Choral and Instrumental Music competition.  We were in Salem and North Shore but spent Saturday downtown.

The Art of Improvisation is an extension of the "Improvisations from an Outpost" photo essay (http://www.flickr.com/photos/22231918@N06/sets/72157624670849749/). It contains images of improvised music and dance,taken at venues such as Outpost 186, 119 Gallery, and the Vision Festival.

The images were taken improvisational, usually in low light and always without flash. Most of them have been processed improvisationally, usually in Photoshop.

My thanks go out to all the musicians and dancers for the inspiration and opportunity to take these images, and to Rob Chalfen at the Outpost, and Walter and Mary Ann Wright at 119 Gallery . Musicians depicted are free to use these images if they wish.
