Re: looping software query

Hello everyone,

I was a bit unclear in my post. Probably my stability issue with
Logeloop 1 comes from "the human factor" - he, he... as you know,
ninety nine percent of all computer stability issues really are
nothing but *a user issues* ;-)) I have had so much work for a period
that I was forced to cut out which tasks to not take care of in order
to deliver in the food-and-rent-paying department, plus stuff I have
promised others to fix. And I have not been able to work my way down
the list to start looking deeply into that instability issue. Sad
facts of life. On my previous laptop I did some "folder hacking" to
make AU plugins show up in Logeloop 1 and even though I had good
guidance by email from Philippe I might have messed something up. I
won't be needing that hack with Logeloop 2, since it will natively
support AU plugins, so I think my Logeloop (2) will be as stable as
every one else had it with version 1.

I also like the built-in Logeloop plugin Granulaterre a lot! It is
like a built-in step sequencer where you can snatch a sample of what
you are playing and instantly get the slice start bouncing around
according to the spinning sequencer pattern. Sequencer patterns can be
saved as part of the global looper preset (that includes mixer
settings, loop speed/pitch... see my earlier post) which is very
"playable" in my opinion. I'd say that Logeloops preset system is
"playable" in the same way as Mobius scripting option: it allows you
to design exactly what you need and nothing more. When there are too
many options at hand your playing is slowed down as you have to stop
and think about what to do next instead of just playing. I like to
keep my tools minimal but sharp.

Forgot to respond to Jons query about foot controllers. I've used up
three Behringer FCB 1010 pedals, each one worked fine three years for
me, and have now moved on to the more expensive Gordius Little Giant
2. This one is sturdy and built by parts that can easily be replaced
so I think it will be less expensive in the long run. The LG2 is quite
compact and portable as well, since it allows up to four expression
pedals as external add-ons (the cheap analog Roland EVP5).

All the best

Per
