thanks jeff. this could really be the problem.
must have overseen this, when i set up the midi bindings completely new 
for the softstep. stupid me.

hey todd,
think i will try the standalone mode soon, to see what happens, but most 
of the softsteps strange behaviors are related to functions, that are only 
available in the host mode, so it wouldn't help much.
