Well I'm not really sure if its avail for MAC but i use TapeIt vst. Its a very simple plugin that allows you to name your file first and set the destination save folder before you record. I like how simple it is all you gotta do is hit record and its very light on cpu. See if it is avilable for mac. Its what I use for my live loopig vids that i post on youtube.

The recording function of Live is just not that intuitive to me. I mean I suppose I could just create an audio track and pipe the signal from Main to it and record just that track. But I don't like the interface. I want to be able to name my file before I record and have some recording options in an actual recording plugin. So I guess when you record, then stop, then record gain, it just creates a new file with a new file name (live set name with some ascending numbers)? Maybe I should give it another try.

Why use an "audio recording plugin" inside a host application designed
to record audio?

Before I switched to Mac, I was using this Voxengo VST recorder in Live and
it worked well. But there is no version for MAC.

Anyone know of a free or cost based audio recorder plug for mac?
