I fly with my Renaissance guitar in a Calton case and hardly ever have any 
problem getting it on board.  I have taken eight cross-country round trips 
since April, and I have been able to put the guitar in the overhead bin on 
all but one flight. A Calton case makes it possible to gate-check without 
fear, and even if I have to check it as baggage it will be fine.
