oh wait...now i remember why i did it....sometimes i like to create an 
empty track that sends out clock simply to act as a master tempo. i can 
then switch to another unsynced track, but still have my plugins tempo 
locked. i suppose this would still work using your method...it would just 
mean i could choose any tracks as the clock source. doing a global reset 
automatically selects track 1 by default and that's my master track, so i 
don't really have to think about it...
