I don't use live, but I can tell you that what you describe does not correspond to my experience with mobius. Do you get the same kind of problem in standalone?
Could you tell us what synchronization settings you're using? Can you monitor the midi going to Mobius? Could you filter that midi stream to keep out unused messages? What's the cpu and memory indicators saying when you get a crash?
