live streaming video options

Hey all,

A little off topic for the general discussion here, but this is for future
loopfests...

For those of you that watched the live streams, you know my camera was a
simple USB personal webcam that did not deliver a quality pic.  I'm
looking for solutions to improve that.

I'm finding a number of devices that are compatible with a few specific
sites (usteam, Livestream), but I don't want to be tied to a specific
platform.  Basically, I need a webcam or camcorder, or an affordable HMDI
encoder to deliver a better quality pic.  I'm not finding any solutions at
retail outlets nor online.

If anyone has any experience in this area, I would LOVE to hear from you.
