Hmm. 

Just a couple of weeks ago i (again) cloned 10.9.5 and 10.7.5 using only 
disk utility. 
The process was simple and both copies are bootable. 
Same can be done with a more scheduled option simply using time machine, 
which also supports smart copying already.
Block copy options are welcome, though not needed over here, unless 
already deep in trouble - if so i'd use 0xED, though - it's free and 
allows to hex edit as well.
Scripting before or after a copy i never needed, what is it good for?
