Hi. I am a bit of a lurker here but would like to join in with my £0.02 worth. How about adopting a slightly elliptical approach to your problem? Why not use two independent looper pedals with a footswitch to flip your guitar between the two inputs and a little passive mixer to put the two outputs back together? Total freedom to have loop lengths and to crossfade as you will. TimeCore do a basic simple looper pedal on ebay for £30. Might be be ideal? I have two and they are quite a bargain. I use a similar system, but PC based with a modular VST host and lots of instances of Augustus Looper. It gives me total freedom to create any polyrhythms I fancy! Not quite an answer to your original question, more a wildcard to consider.
