Well with 8 it's just a matter of installing free 3rd party software to 
get the
(essential) desktop back.
It *does* seem a deal harder to run (some) legacy software on it though.

Haven't ventured to Win10, let's face it the clue is in the name "Windows",
for years those of us who wanted to run more than one application, or even 
just
view more than one document at a time had the option to open more than one 
Window
on the desktop.
