Looping Gear: | Lexicon JamMan (x2), Line 6 DL4, Zoom 508 delay; Ibanez digital delay footpedal with 'hold' facility; ACID Pro 2 Software |
Influences: | I'm not sure that after 30 years of playing there's a transparently obvious link between how I sound and other peoples' music, but Peter Green and Pat Metheny are probably central sources of inspiration, and then 'the usual suspects' in no order - Eno/Fripp, Torn, Frisell, Brook, Tibbetts, Hassell, Reich, Barber, Part, Rypdal, Hedges, Molvaer, Neill, Martyn etc plus others less directly related to this area - Zappa, maybe? Henry Cow, This Heat |
Musical Style: | Ambient, though not a well-loved term in some circles, is a suitable broad-brush stroke descriptor for what I do. Paul Klee claimed to take a line for a walk in his drawings - I attempt to do the same with sounds. My website [www.davidcooperorton.co.uk] provides links to several audio illustrations of this . |
Recordings Available: | Re:CoOperation - 'Transatlantic Collaboration' http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/recooperation In addition, I have an hour's worth of material entitled 'The Comfort of Strange Airs' which was described by London's `Time Out' magazine as combining a Frisell-like twang with `minimalist delicacy'. UK music publication, Sound on Sound's 'demo doctor', suggested `...it's a good ambient late night listen'(p.262, October 1998). No further recommendation required, I'm sure you'll agree... Email me for further details. |
