I carry a little blue notebook which is filling up with variations of midi & audio maps (all dated), set-lists (with bpm's, patch numbers & other notes against each title), ideas & notes coming from rehearsals & gigs, multitrack mix notes.... that sort of stuff.
I also carry a yamaha datafiler with backups of patch data, configs for various midi controllers, & sysex of song/pattern data. I have the same data on another floppy which is kept away from the rest of the gear.
we use two synth modules- an emu proteus (actually now an xl-7) & an alesis s4+. it's (just) possible for one to fill in for the other if there's a failure, though obviously there's some compromise in the sounds available.
spare cables, strings... batteries.... toolkit w/ fuses...... spare merge box.... spare sony psu for the midi buss-powered gear..... flashlight....
it's never enough, though, & feels like tempting fate sometimes.
but with a bottle of water & some bananas, we're ready to go.
d.
