the R800 does have a clear coat when you print glossy paper that is water resistant and doesn't smear but it doesn't use that on printable cds and it is quite easy to smear the print on the cd with a wet finger. The spray is an excellent idea, I'll have to start using it myself.

gives a slightly nicer finish, but more importantly it protects those inkjet inks which are water soluable.
