Yes, ostinato is essentially what I do with the Dangerous Shoe.  Our 
drummer
has a tendency to get a little "free" with his variations, so often it 
becomes
my responsibility to keep the downbeat in place. (-8  I often use effects 
to
produce "long" sounds; i.e., sounds that take more than a quarter note to
develope and decay, so sometimes I'm only playing on the downbeat.
