Re:beyond RDS and PDS

Seeing how these units have been mentioned lately I figured now is a good 
time to ask: are there any other units being produced these days that have 
similar "tweaking" capabilities but are quieter and have a higher sampling 
rate?  I remember seeing an ad for a korg unit that had some giant knob on 
it 
for real-time tweaking I think, but I never actually saw/heard the unit.  
I 
love what I can do w/ my pds pedal but I find it extremely noisy and 
gritty.  
just wondering if there is anything else out there (also w/ a hold 
function).
