I don't know of specific references by Campbell to Vico, but he
was very interested in Joyce. He was the co-author of "A Skeleton
Key to Finnegan's Wake" (which funnily enough, I bought and read
before becoming familiar with Campbell's work on mythology!).
i really like the notion that thunder
spawned religion in
the form of "idolatrous
animism."
Viconian thunders play a significant role in Finnegan's
Wake.
