I've felt this way for a long time and finally switched from a 4-track 
reel to adats in the mid 90's.  I still would love to do it all on the PC 
but the OS IS the problem.  I still use the 4-track just because I love 
the sound and it definitely warms up the digital sound if I pass through 
the Teac Reel first but then again I'm still learning!
