Use the pedal dynamically.

You could try Loop/Delay= rPL     (Replace Mode) if
you have an analog pedal. Then you hear the way the volume 
of the loop changes straight away without having to wait for
the whole loop to pass.
Allows you to dynamically mix the loop volume as
you add new material.
