"Tough fucking crowds here dude." F***kin'-A right, Bubba! Bosstown crowds can be 'wikkid pissa' tough. Closed-minded. Rude. Cold. BUT NOT AS COLD, JADED, OR CYNICAL AS YOUR TYPICAL CLUB OWNER OR BOOKING AGENT, HOWEVER. A tough Boston/Summaville/Cambridge crowd can be won over, can even become warm and friendly if they take a liking to you, but if Mister "I-hate-everything-and-everybody-and-I-just-wanna-book-my-friends'-bands" Booking Guy doesn't wanna take a chance on you, it stops right there, and you've either gotta try another club, or wait until the management gets tired of Mister Jaded and hopefully replaces him with someone who will at least give you one gig to prove yourself. Boston clubs, by and large, have no built-in crowd, depending entirely on the band to bring people in and make up for the club's lack of advertising and/or suboptimal location. Otherwise, it's just the "regulars," a bunch of 5 or 6 hard-core juicers that make Barney from the Simpsons seem lucid. But given the choice between putting up with this half-assed bullsh*t and not playing out at all, of course I choose to play. We play. It's what we do. ~Tim > [Original Message] > From: David Kirkdorffer <vze2ncsr@verizon.net> > To: <Loopers-Delight@loopers-delight.com> > Date: 3/7/2005 7:26:18 PM > Subject: Re: A poll--shoes off?
