Thanks, Bill. I'll check out  your FAQ. Incidentally, I think the only bit 
of advise I have not followed below from you is calling and talking to 
these 
folks in person. I agree wholeheartedly. Everything else I did...the 
research, followed the procedures, matched my style of music, etc. You and 
Rick are on the same page there.   Ironically, I have achieved more radio 
play from stations that have proactive contacted me, rather than the other 
way around! Imagine that.

Moroever, I think if a person can get a 5% return on sending CDs out to 
stations, that is pretty good, considering that some of these stations get 
hundreds of CDs a year, a month for some of the bigger programs like NPR's 
Echos.  So you are right, if you can rise above the rest of the CDs by 
contacting them, all the better.
