sounds like it crashed because the power was interrupted. Especially since 
you could cycle power and then it worked.

could be that a solder joint is cracked in the power supply or something 
like that. That could have happened from dropping it or just years of 
bouncing around. If you find a decent electronics tech with a soldering 
iron, they can probably fix this really easy.
