>>>"I'm talking way too much here and getting more acute in my opinions. I apologize for that. I'll refrain from responding for a while." Please don't- this is a great conversation. I just wish I was going to be around to continue it for the rest of the day...... >>>>>>>> "The fact remains, there are people out there that havne't really mastered there instruments or who are intermediate players (and who will openly admit this) still struggligg with their main instrument, who use gear to compensate for that." #1- In my mind, a better question would be 'Is there anyone who *HAS* mastered their instrument? Even the people we consider masters probably would not ever say that about themselves. But that's another convo.... When you say 'use gear to compensate', that's where you lose me. Let's assume someone is an intermediate player who has realized that he can usea certain piece of gear to execute the strategies of his mind- how is that wrong? Is it more correct to play 4 notes instead of playing 1 & having a delay that repeats 3 times? I do agree that if you remove all gear from the equation, and sit 2 peopel down head to head on acoustic guitars, you will be able to better tell who is the technically superior guitar player- but IMO, this has *zero* to do with who is the superior musician. : ) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- This e-mail message (including attachments, if any) is intended for the use of the individual or entity to which it is addressed and may contain information that is privileged, proprietary , confidential and exempt from disclosure.
